IMPORTANT ANTI-VIRUS INFORMATION
It is critical you have anti-virus software working on your computer ALL THE TIME! Viruses have become a real problem, infecting computers and causing operational problems, or stealing your personal information. If you are downloading free games, music or even photos you run the risk of importing a virus. Some of these are sneaking by the most sophisticated anti-virus software. If you are getting something for "free" be careful! Some of you may be receiving notices your Norton Anti-Virus software is expiring. Symantec generously provides each KCC student with one year of free anti-virus protection. Should you wish to renew your Norton Anti-Virus with Symantec the instructions are straightforward once you click on the "renew" button. We hope you will continue to support this generous corporate partner. OPTIONS:If you are unable to financially cover the cost of renewing Norton you have a couple of choices: 1) If you are a Rogers customer - visit Rogers.com for free anti-virus (for existing Rogers customers) Here is the link for more information and to download the protection http://www.rogers.com/web/content/internet_security-features Note: Other anti-virus software must be removed before installing Rogers Online Protection. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Uninstall Norton (Symantec) Anti-Virus. What is included with Rogers Online Protection?
2) Visit Avast.com for free anti-virus (available to anyone) Click on this link http://www.avast.com/index Click on avast! free antivirus box, then click “download” Once loaded on your PC, click on registration – complete that and you have a very good anti-virus protection for a year. It is renewable – you simply need to re-register each year. Note: Other anti-virus software must be removed before installing avast anti-virus software. Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Uninstall Norton (Symantec) Anti-Virus Please keep your software up to date. We strongly recommend you adjust the setting to automatically check for updates and to do program updates. |
