How can I become part of the Kids, Cops & Computers program?

The Kids, Cops & Computers program works with select Grade 7 students attending schools identified by the Toronto District and Toronto Catholic District school boards. Educators within the identified schools select kids who they feel would benefit most  from participating in the Program.

What happens if my computer gets damaged?

We hope you are taking good care of your computer, however if the damage to your computer is not covered under warranty and you are up to date with the requirements of the Program, we may be able to help. My computer is too slow. What should I do?

First, make sure your anti-virus program is up to date. Often, viruses will cause computers to run slow.  Two quick things – click “Start” > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools then follow the instructions. You are usually safe to click “all files” to clean your computer. You can also click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter and follow instructions.  Delete any unnecessary games/files/photos that may be hogging memory, restart the computer and you're set to go!

My computer is slow and I think I have a virus. What should I do?

If your subscription to Norton anti-virus is still active, update it and run its full system scan. If your one-year subscription has ended you can pay to renew it, use your Internet provider’s anti-virus software (free), or download a free anti-software. We recommend Avast at www.avast.com. You will need to uninstall your old anti-virus software before loading the new one.

My computer is not turning on. What should I do?

If your computer is not turning on, ensure that all plugs are properly connected. Make sure the electric wall socket is functioning and has electricity running to it. If it is still not turning on, contact Merry Go Round at 647-426-1252. If your computer is still under warranty, you should call the manufacturer first.

My Internet is not working. What should I do?

Restart the modem by unplugging it and waiting 3 minutes. Plug it back in and restart your computer. If, even after restarting the modem, your Internet does not work, you may wish to call your service provider to see if there are any outages in your area.
