Chief of Police

wblairMerry Go Round Children’s Foundation’s Kids, Cops & Computers program  draws  upon  the  strength  and commitment of the corporate,  community  and law enforcement sectors to give kids a better chance  to  meet with real success. Our track record shows that through cooperation and mutual respect, we achieve so much more than we could alone. Together,  we  can  accomplish  our  goals  of  improving social behaviour,  positive  life  choices,  civic  participation and community development.

I believe this program provides an educational experience that builds self-esteem and supports lifelong benefits. The ongoing contributions of the Kids, Cops & Computers program have been vital and I look forward to celebrating the achievements still to come.

deputy_chief_jane__dick_115The sweet truth is that the Kids, Cops & Computers program has proven as much a benefit to the Toronto Police Service and our officers, as it has for the students!

The program allows officers to interact with young people in the community in a relaxed and positive one-on-one manner. Officers who have been a mentor enjoy the experience and tell me it has enriched them as police officers, as well as members of the community.

David Sawyer

david_sawyer115I've been involved with the Merry Go Round program for the past 4 years and I believe it is one of the best programs being offered to the kids in the community I serve. I feel great pride knowing that my E-Buddies over the years have continued to do well at school and within the communities where they live. Although the e-mail correspondence technically runs during the school months, my E-Buddies and I have continued to e-mail each other during the summer months to ensure they stay on the right track. I know that the kids, and all the officers involved in the Kids, Cops & Computers program, appreciate all the hard work by those who have invested time and funding to make this important program work....for that we thank you. I will continue to be part of the program for the remainder of my policing career because I know the kids we are helping will succeed.

Jennifer Thompson

j_thompson_115I have been involved with the Kids, Cops, and Computers Program for the past 5 years. Last year I had 3 E-Buddies. My fondest memory is heading to the beach to meet my E-Buddies for a day of fun in the sun at their school's year-end celebration. We spent the day chatting about school, homework, friends and upcoming summer vacation. It was a wonderful way to wrap up the school year, and an excellent opportunity for me to connect with my E-Buddies. This program has enabled me to communicate with students on a much more informal level, allowing them to see me as a regular person, just like them.

Laurie Jackson

laurie_jacksonI think Kids, Cops and Computers is an amazing program. Just a small amount of my time emailing with my ebuddy results in him receiving a computer. This computer and internet access will assist significantly with his education. This has been a great experience for myself and my ebuddy. I enjoy our email relationship and the opportunity to get to know him.

One of the greatest things about life is when we foster hope for our children; those youth have everything within their grasp. A life that it is filled with hope is a life filled with opportunities.

The Merry-Go-Round Kids, Cops and Computers Program enables that hope, turns on learning, promotes connectivity and delivers an abundance of opportunities for these young people, opportunities they have only begun to explore.
