Dear Merry Go Round Staff:
I am sending you my report card of Spring 2010 of grade 9 in Martingrove Collegiate Institute.
Right now in my life I feel very happy and appreciate what your foundation have presented me with.
With the help of the computer and other equipments I was capable of completing assignments, projects, and reports or essays that were assigned. Currently my grades are improving year after year by a significant progress since I have arrived in Canada. This program has given me an opportunity which other kids could not get and I am very grateful to it.
Thank You
- Grade 10 Student - Martingrove Collegiate Institute
[Editor's note - this student's average mark was 89.5% on his June 2010 report card]
Dear Merry Go Round Staff:
I am so excited to have received the computer from your foundation. You have truly changed my life. With this letter, I thank you!
Many kids across the nation do not have such an opportunity like I do...being able to type on this wonderful, new, state-of-the-art computer with internet access.
I think it’s nice what your organization is doing. I am so happy to be one of the kids nominated to receive and eventually earn ownership of the computer through following a few simple rules. Every given assignment, one of my classmates/friends would arrive at school and show their presentation that they had done on the computer with the support of the Internet; I didn’t have Internet...
Now, I have easy access to the Internet with a click of a mouse all because of your generosity. I would once again like to say ‘Thank You!’ You can’t begin to know how much this ‘special’ gift means to me. Happy Holidays!

Hey Merry Go Round!
Having a computer at home with internet is really wonderful. It comes great and handy in times when I need to do my homework that requires the internet use or even finding out info for my parents etc. It also allows me to connect with my relatives and friends from all over!! It's really great. Well, like I stated before, it really helps with my family. My brother also uses it sometimes as well. It's useful to get info here and there.
I can't express in words how happy I am knowing that you guys gave me an opportunity to have a computer!
Without it, I think I'd have to rely on friends, and public libraries and internet cafe's etc. And also, it comes in handy to have a computer w/ internet here. I really enjoy it and appreciate it! I think almost every student needs a computer in their household and with internet as well.
I think merry go round is a very helpful and wonderful organization. Because, it's really kinda and sweet to see an organization put together helping children in schools get a computer and internet as well. On top of that, we get e-buddys, and great other events and gifts along with it! The people that make up the organization as well are also very helpful and sweet. They're quite comforting as well. Merry go round all together is just wonderful! I can't express in words how happy I am knowing that you guys gave me an opportunity to have a computer! Thank You!
In the future, I would definitely love to be involved with MGR, telling other students how it helped me. Also showing kids how to use computers as well.

Dear Mr. Paterson and Spo nsors:
They say “A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”. That’s what I learnt when I was given such a wonderful opportunity from Merry go Round who not only provide you with a computer but the confidence to excel. I feel honoured to have been chosen as one of the participants in this programme.
The computer and the free internet I was provided with have helped me a lot with school assignments, major projects and finding out helpful educational information through the internet. I achieved much through the Merry Go Round Programme as I feel my grades have improved and having come to Canada just two years ago, I can see myself more comfortable with the Canadian curriculum. I definitely see myself on that journey of a thousand miles, all thanks to that one step Merry Go Round has provided for me. Having a printer at home has allowed me to hand in my assignments on time as previously I would have to find the time to have the work printed at the local library.
Being a member of the Merry Go round programme has helped me meet and communicate with people like my e-buddy Officer Kelly. I am really grateful for this opportunity because who else gets to talk to a Police Officer unless you are in trouble!
I would never have imagined being in a programme like Merry Go Round. A programme that gives you that support you need to reach your goals. Looking back at the time I didn’t have a computer has made me extremely grateful. Merry Go Round has given me a chance at success early, giving me more time to excel in the near future. Merry Go Round to me is “A great key, to great achievement”. Today, I definitely see myself on that journey of a thousand miles, all thanks to that one step Merry Go Round has provided for me.

Dear Merry Go Round:
My name is Scott Moniz and I am 20 years old. When I was 7 years old, my father passed away, leaving me and my family with huge financial problems. By the age of 13, I was working 10-15 hours a week. My income was used to buy clothes and other necessities and I never could afford internet or a computer. In grade 7, we learned about web design, and immediately I was interested, but not having a home computer hindered my ability to learn as much as I could. In grade 8 I was nominated by my teacher to receive a computer from the Merry-Go-Round foundation. Weeks later and finally I had my own computer...and internet too! I loved chatting with friends and playing games, but most importantly I loved making websites and learning about computers in general.
In high school my interest of computers continued. I took web design, programming, and computer engineering courses. It is 2009 and I am now attending my 6th semester of a 6 semester course at George Brown College for the T127 - Computer Programming/Systems Analysis program. I am doing quite well and have a cumulative GPA of 3.8.
I am extremely happy at this point in my life, and I attribute this to the opportunity that was given to me by Merry-Go-Round.
School is tough right now, and I am extremely busy, but the fact that I am writing this thank you should go to show how grateful I am for the opportunity you gave me.
Thank you, Scott Moniz. Alumni student from Parkdale area
