Fairbank Middle School kids know how to have fun. What an energetic, bright group of students. Principal Lois Steward addressed the students and their parents saying "We are so grateful for the computers and delighted they are going to such a talented and keen group of students."

The computers at Fairbank Middle School were made possible by a very generous donation from York Rotary.  Dwayne Chin was on hand to present each student with a congratulatory certificate while they had their picture taken. Dwayne brought greetings from his Rotary peers when he said "I'm delighted to be here representing Rotary and to see first hand the appreciation shown for receiving the new computers. Rotary is very proud to contribute to programs such as Merry Go Round's Kids, Cops & Computers as it is such a tangible, direct contribution to the community in which we live and work."

It is very rewarding to see the appreciation of the parents and the students who attended the launch on June 28th. With only one and a half days of school left excitement is running high, but not as high as when one student was heard to exclaim as he entered the room - "I won a free computer?!"

Well you didn't quite "win" a computer. First, you are selected by your teacher and Principal based on your need and your high learning potential. Secondly, as you heard from Ruth today, you have to E.A.R.N. the computer over the next year. This means regularly emailing your eBuddy, sending in two assignments completed on the computer, attending Kids, Cops & Computers events and sending in copies of your report cards through high school.

Enjoy your summer and we look forward to seeing you in September at the 'meet and greet' where you will be introduced to your Toronto Police Officer eBuddy.
